Single Leads

The Lead - Range: D4 to F sharp 6 & C4 to E6

Designed in the 4ths & 5ths right handed formation, this pan produces the most superior quality sound of all the lead steelpan instruments ever invented, and is the most commonly used style worldwide. 75% of steelbands in the birthplace of steelpan instruments (Trinidad) use the D range single lead. Techniques mastered on this instrument are easily applied to all other members of the steelpan family; rapid progress is usually made on this instrument, so it's highly recommended for beginners.

Single Lead - Range: D4 to F6

This is another popular style of lead designed for total playing and mobility. Playing this style instrument does not confine the player to one specific area of the pan when playing in any given key. The player is able to comfortably execute simple and highly difficult passages of music because the pan's design easily divides the work load on both hands.
